THE CARRIE MEEK FOUNDATION ISSUES
EXPRESSION OF INTEREST SOLICITATION FOR POTENTIAL DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS AT THE OPA LOCKA AIRPORT

The Carrie Meek Foundation seeks to create a mixed use office/industrial center on +/- 121 acres at the South West Corner of The Opa Locka Airport. On Friday, November 14, 2008 the Foundation will issue an Expression of Interest Solicitation for potential Development Partners. The EOI is available for review and download here.

Interested parties must submit documentation verifying their financial stability, expertise in developing warehouse/industrial/aviation related facilities, commitment to sustainable development and their history of outreach to and inclusion of local small businesses in development projects. Expressions of Interest must be received no later than December 15, 2008.

The Opa Locka Aviation and Commerce Center seeks to partner with both local and national firms with the expertise and resources to bring this project to fruition in a timely fashion, as well as with community stakeholders to create job training and employee recruitment programs in order to ensure that local residents share in the success of the development.

The Foundation is committed to developing this site in an eco friendly fashion and utilizing “Green” technology, incorporating Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Standards.

The Opa Locka Aviation and Commerce Center will endeavor to foster partnerships between businesses located within the development and those in the surrounding community in order to spur further redevelopment and job creation throughout North Miami Dade, with special emphasis on NW 27th Avenue (aka Carrie Meek Boulevard) as a critical arterial for the entire community.
