As an influential member of the Florida Legislature and later Congress, Carrie P. Meek always ensured that South Florida’s less fortunate enjoyed vigorous, incisive representation within the corridors of power.

Now that the Congresswoman is out of politics, her robust advocacy of the disenfranchised is being carried forward by The Carrie Meek Foundation. A 501(c)3 based in Miami-Dade County. The Foundation aims to be a preeminent Florida authority on housing, education, economic empowerment and health issues.

Not surprising, the Foundation also exerts influence on a grass-roots level, as one might expect of any organization named after Carrie Meek. The Carrie Meek Foundation is a place where well-crafted policy and pragmatic activism converge to uplift lives. While the Foundation’s primary focus is the economic and community empowerment of southern Florida, its tentacles extend statewide.

The Carrie Meek Foundation is committed to the simple premise that in an era where so many Florida citizens have attained mind-boggling affluence, it’s inexcusable for anyone to no enjoy a decent standard of living.
